I think that most of the 57-hardy specimens that ‘took on’ the blistering heat yesterday would probably agree that we all had value-for-money, with some evidently enjoying it so much that they were out for almost 5-hours!!! That said, we were let down by a few that didn’t show without even bothering to notify us – shame on them but a topic for the future, I’m sure.
Firstly, a very important announcement: We need everyone to help make sure that we maximise our charitable gift this year by either: donating raffle prizes for both the Open & the BBQ: sponsoring a hole for the Open – at just £20/hole surely a bargain to see your name ‘in lights’ [sort of], and/or: participating in the raffle, sweep and putting competition prior to the Open. The chosen charity this year is Marie Curie, so please give generously.
An so to the results, although the trophy winner is self-evidently Brian Reid, this has to remain a provisional result until the cards have been processed & the results ratified. However, I can confirm that the winners of the course prizes were: longest drive – Graham Brindley & nearest the pin – Nick Tomaszewski: While those for the sweep-prizes where the cut-off was 19 were as follows:
Captain’s Cup | ||||
Group | Position | Name | H’cap | Score |
1 | 1st | Brian Reid | 14.0 | 69 |
1 | 2nd | Ray Duckett | 12.7 | 72 c/b |
1 | 3rd | Alan Kirkpatrick | 13.0 | 72 c/b |
1 | 4th | Jim Cotton | 14.1 | 72 c/b |
2 | 1st | Paul Wynn | 25.4 | 70 |
2 | 2nd | Peter Pitts | 20.6 | 73 c/b |
2 | 3rd | Keith Arlott | 24.9 | 73 c/b |
2 | 4th | Arthur Strain | 25.1 | 74 |
Congratulations to all concerned, but particularly Brian, Graham & Nick. The prizes will be presented at next week’s roll-up and as ever the confirmed results will appear on the website: https://carswellseniors.com
Next week we have the next round of the Eclectic, with temperature forecast to barely reach 26C – but there will be a breeze at least!!!
Enjoy the sun, but not too much.
